In 2008, I started working for a non-profit animal shelter and fell in love with the project. For almost 13 years I held numerous positions ranging from Kennel Technician to Director and built a new department for the organization. My experience taught me so much about caring for animals and it was the most rewarding job I have ever had. My specialty is working with dogs that display fear- related behaviors with an emphasis on enrichment. I utilize classical counter conditioning and use confidence building techniques to enhance the pet's quality of life and ultimately modify their behavior. I can offer professional advice to families and all pet care facilities to help enrich the canine lives they touch.
Training Philosophy | Trevor follows the LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) guideline. LIMA does not justify the use of punishment in lieu of other effective interventions and strategies. In the vast majority of cases, desired behavior change can be affected by focusing on the animal’s environment, physical well-being, and operant and classical interventions such as differential reinforcement of an alternative behavior, desensitization, and counter-conditioning.
